What is Furdopt?
Furdopt is a UK pet rehoming and adoption platform that helps pets find the right home when circumstances change. We connect pet owners, foster carers, and rescues with suitable adopters using detailed pet profiles and lifestyle-based matching. Furdopt focuses on responsible, transparent rehoming, not quick or unsafe transfers.
Is Furdopt a rescue?
No. Furdopt is not a rescue organisation. We do not take ownership, custody, or responsibility for pets. We act as a facilitator, providing tools that help owners and adopters connect responsibly. All decisions remain with the people involved.
Does Furdopt sell pets?
No. Furdopt does not sell pets and does not act as a broker. Any rehoming or adoption agreement is made directly between the owner, rescue, or foster carer and the adopter. Furdopt does not handle payments for pets.
Is Furdopt free to use?
Yes. Creating an account and listing a pet on Furdopt is completely free. We offer optional paid visibility features (such as Spotlight listings) for users who want to increase exposure, but these are never required to rehome a pet.
How does pet matching work?
Furdopt uses smart matching to help connect pets with suitable adopters based on: • Lifestyle compatibility • Living environment • Experience level • Other pets and children • Energy levels and special needs This helps reduce unsuitable enquiries and supports better long-term matches.
Why use Furdopt instead of social media?
Rehoming through open social media groups can be overwhelming and risky. Furdopt allows you to: • Create a clear, structured pet profile • Manage interest in one place • Avoid unsafe or impulsive enquiries • Prioritise suitability over speed This creates a safer, more controlled rehoming experience.
Do you check adopters?
Furdopt provides tools to help manage and assess interest, but final checks are always the responsibility of the owner or rescue. We strongly encourage: • Meet-and-greets • Home checks where possible • Appropriate rehoming fees for private rehoming
Can rescues use Furdopt?
Yes. Many UK rescues and foster-led groups use Furdopt as an additional rehoming tool. Rescues often use Furdopt when: • Waiting lists are full • Supporting private rehoming cases • Promoting harder-to-place pets Rescues remain fully in control of their own processes.
Why do I need to charge a rehoming fee when creating a pet profile?
We always recommend an appropriate fee to help deter impulse adopters and protect animal welfare. Any fee is agreed directly between the parties involved.
What pets can be listed on Furdopt?
You can list: • Dogs • Cats • Rabbits • Small animals All listings must comply with UK animal welfare and rehoming laws.
What is a Spotlight listing?
Spotlight listings are optional paid add-ons that help a pet stand out by: • Appearing higher in search results • Displaying a visible “Spotlight” badge • Increasing exposure for a set period They are ideal for your pet to be noticed quicker
